This is a review of OwlSet 8x50mm HD Digital Day & Night Vision Scope (OWNVS-03) from Pm Alex.

I recently had the opportunity to test the OwlSet 8x50 mm night vision scope, from the OWLSET sub-brand of Vector Optics, specialized in night and thermal scopes. I want to share my impressions from a user’s perspective, with a constructive and practical approach.

Packaging and Accessories

The scope arrives well-protected in its box, with secure packaging and all the necessary accessories:

Mounting rings (personally, I think medium-height rings would be sufficient).

Infrared flashlight with 18650 battery and charger.

Quick-release mount with three rail positions.

Black neoprene case with the brand logo, practical and aesthetically pleasing.

The flashlight is slightly offset from the optical center, so beam alignment could be improved. However, the removable battery provides great versatility for carrying spares.

Size, Weight, and Ergonomics

The scope offers good eye relief and enough space for comfortably mounting accessories. The control layout is intuitive:

Right side: charging port and microSD slot, protected by a waterproof cover.

Top: power, Wi‑Fi, and recording buttons, easy to use even with gloves.

Left side: controls for reticle type, color, and impact point adjustments for different distances.

Parallax and Sharpness

The parallax and sharpness adjustment knob is located near the objective. It works well, although it would be more convenient to place it near the turrets, like in daylight scopes.

Connectivity

The scope can be connected via an app to Android devices, showing in real time what is seen through the scope and allowing full control from a smartphone. The connection is fast and stable, and the experience is intuitive.

Zeroing and Night Performance

The scope allows marking impacts and adjusting the reticle, offering different models and colors. Up to five shooting configurations can be pre-set for common distances.

The image and video quality is very sharp up to about 150 m, ideal for observation and shooting at short to medium distances. At longer ranges, sharpness may gradually decrease, although under good lighting conditions it remains functional.
