This is a review of Tauron 6-24x50 HD MIL FFP Rifle Scope PRS (SCFF-81) from Pm Alex.
After mounting and using the Tauron scope in real field conditions for several weeks, my initial impressions from the range and setup have been fully confirmed. The scope feels well proportioned for its market segment: being an affordable optic does not prevent it from being interesting, capable, and genuinely practical in real hunting scenarios.
Once mounted on a bolt-action rifle chambered in 7 mm Remington Magnum and used for medium- to long-range shooting, the scope offers a natural and comfortable sight picture.
Whether shooting prone or using a tripod in seated or kneeling positions, the rifle balances well and the scope allows for a confident, stable aim, especially in more open terrain combined with Mediterranean vegetation and cultivated fields.
Regarding optical performance, the scope has been tested in low-light conditions at both first and last light, as well as with direct frontal sunlight. In low light, there is a clear improvement compared to the previous Tauron 6–24×50 model, with better clarity and image definition.
When shooting into the sun, glare can be noticeable—as with any optic—making the use of the included sunshade advisable. Even so, visibility of the reticle remains acceptable, and photos taken through the scope at distances beyond 350 meters show that the image and reticle are still usable under these demanding conditions.
The handling of the scope is one of its strongest points. The turrets, zoom lever, and parallax adjustment are smooth and easy to operate, even during real hunting situations. Clicks are tactile and audible, even when wearing hearing protection, and the turrets feel solid and precise, working well with light gloves. Repetibility and return to zero have shown no issues so far, which is essential for confidence when dialing corrections.
The reticle design is well executed, with line thicknesses that are clear without being intrusive. Subdivisions are easy to read and practical for observation or reference after a shot, although turret dialing remains the preferred method for precise long-range corrections.
Illumination behavior differs slightly from the previous model: in normal daylight conditions, levels 1 to 3 are barely visible, level 4 becomes noticeable, level 5 is clearly usable, and level 6 performs well. When shooting from shaded positions toward brighter areas, illumination visibility improves significantly. Under strong frontal sunlight, a slight bluish line can sometimes be perceived at the edges of the reticle, but this remains a minor visual effect rather than a functional issue.
At higher magnifications, image quality remains stable. Even at 24×, there is no noticeable degradation at the edges, and focus remains consistent. Parallax adjustment works correctly, although at distances beyond 500 meters it may require adjustment close to the upper end of the scale, something that can also vary depending on the shooter’s eyesight. Once properly set, the image remains sharp and comfortable to use.
In terms of ergonomics, the weight of the scope contributes positively to rifle stability during the shot, although it can be slightly noticeable when walking. One aspect that could be improved is the ocular focus ring, which would benefit from a more rubberized or softer surface to avoid discomfort during adjustment. This, however, is a minor point within an otherwise well-resolved design.
Overall, the Tauron is a scope that allows the shooter to remain calm and confident behind the rifle. The smoothness of its controls and the clear improvement in image quality stand out clearly in real use. For the time being, this will be my main scope for the coming months, even with a Continental model also available.
