This is a review of Veyron GenII 4-16x44 HD CTR FFP Rifle Scope (SCFF-73) from Jared Reid.
After spending time with the new Veyron GenII 4-16x44 HD CTR FFP Rifle Scope (SCFF-73), both on the range and in the field, I can honestly say this scope has impressed me from the start.
The first thing I noticed was just how compact it is. At first glance you might expect a scope this small to feel delicate, but that's far from the case. It feels incredibly solid and well built, giving you confidence that it can handle real hunting conditions. The compact size also keeps the rifle well balanced without sacrificing any functionality.
The first outing was a range day to get everything dialled in, and the scope didn't disappoint. After zeroing the rifle, it held its zero perfectly throughout the session. Tracking was consistent, the turrets offered crisp and tactile 0.1 MIL adjustments, and the audible clicks made dialing quick and precise. If I had to mention one small thing, it would be that I'd like the turret locking mechanism to have a slightly more pronounced click when locking and unlocking. It's a very minor point, but a little more audible feedback would make an already excellent turret system even better.
One area where this scope really stood out was its optical performance. The upgraded HD glass delivers an incredibly sharp and bright image with excellent contrast, and it performs exceptionally well in low-light conditions. Whether it was first light in the morning or as the sun started dropping in the afternoon, the scope continued to gather light remarkably well, allowing me to clearly identify my target long after many optics begin to lose clarity.
The VVE-1 first focal plane Christmas Tree reticle is well thought out and easy to use. Whether you're holding over or dialing for distance, everything remains accurate throughout the magnification range, making it equally at home on the range or out hunting.
The real test, however, came in the field. Not long after sighting the rifle in, I had the opportunity to take two springbok in quick succession at just over 300 metres. The scope performed flawlessly. The image remained crystal clear, the reticle made precise shot placement straightforward, and having complete confidence in the optic allowed me to focus entirely on making two clean, ethical shots.
What impressed me most is the value that Vector Optics has managed to deliver. This may not be marketed as a top-of-the-line premium optic costing several times more, but it certainly doesn't perform like a budget scope. Vector Optics has shown that they know how to build an optic that is affordable without compromising where it matters most. In terms of clarity, reliability, tracking, and overall performance, I genuinely believe this scope holds its own alongside many of the far more expensive offerings from the bigger, well-known brands.
Overall, the Veyron GenII 4-16x44 HD CTR FFP Rifle Scope (SCFF-73) has proven itself to be a reliable, accurate, and incredibly capable optic. It has held zero without issue, delivered excellent glass quality in all lighting conditions, and performed exactly as I needed it to when the moment counted. After using it both on the range and on a successful hunt, I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone looking for a compact first focal plane scope that delivers outstanding performance without breaking the bank.
