This is a review of Frenzy FLEX 24x29 6MOA Red Dot Sight (SCRD-77) from Ranger Eport.
This package did come with the standard accessories that most red dots come with including, an adjustment tool, some alan wrenches, different sizes of screws, etc. However, this package includes a picatinny rail mount as well which was a nice addition. The mount even follows the contour of the optic for a seamless look. My particular package did lack a battery despite the foam having a cutout which I believe would’ve been for it. This was more of a surprise rather than an inconvenience being that I had a few of them lying around.
I decided to test this optic on an M&P 2.0 using the optic plates that came with the pistol. This particular M&P came with metal optic plates rather than some others that come with plastic.
Upon trying to mount the optic, I noticed that the tabs on the optic plate wouldn’t seat properly into the holes in the bottom of the optic. For some reason, despite this plate being able to seat all the way on other RMSc footprint optics, I was only able to get one side, either the left or right, to seat, leaving the optic slanted to one side or the other. I even tried putting other RMSc footprint optics onto the picatinny rail mount to see if there were slight differences in the footprint, but they seated just fine on that as well.
I ended up borrowing a plastic optic plate from a friend’s M&P and that one was able to sit flush.
Once mounted, zeroing the optic was no issue, and the clicks for the windage and elevation were tactile and easy to feel, as were the brightness adjustments.
Other seemingly smaller optics were tested on this pistol as well and did not co-witness quite as well as the Frenzy FLEX 24x29 6MOA Red Dot Sight (SCRD-77). The deck height on this optic as well as the built in irons, gave me a good view of my Tag Precision iron sights (leaving me with around 60% of the rear sight notch depth).
The optic itself has a very large window of 24x29mm (0.945 × 1.142 inches) which is bigger than what I’m used to. The glass did appear to have a very subtle magnification to it, as well as a slight blue but only if you’re really looking for them. The glass is very clear and the 6moa reticle is crisp.
The glass on this optic also has a significant angle rearward which I haven’t seen before, which I believe is to aid in protection as well as reduce glare.
I haven’t noticed any glare with this optic, but did however notice that the angle of the glass made it very easy to clean from the inside.
I am pleased to report that through several hundred rounds, I have yet to experience any issues with this optic. Once torqued, the optic has remained securely mounted and the initial zero has not shifted. The large window makes the dot extremely easy to find as well as track through recoil. This optic has quickly surpassed my expectations not only in quality, but in price as well. The quality to price ratio makes this optic, in my opinion, a hard to beat bang for your buck, not even considering the fact that this comes with the picatinny rail mount and a lifetime warranty.
I will absolutely be giving Vector Optics a hard look when looking for my next optic.
