This is a review of Frenzy FA 17x20 GMR Green Dot Sight EDC (SCRD-GM68) from Jomi Garrucho.

I tested the Vector Optics Frenzy FA 17x20 GMR Green Dot Sight EDC (SCRD-GM68) for approximately 200 rounds of .45 ACP, mounted on a Taurus PT1911 using a custom-milled RMSc mount.

Despite the recoil of the .45 ACP, the optic remained solid throughout testing and held zero from start to finish.

Green Multi-Reticle

The green reticle is bright, crisp, and very easy to pick up. The human eye is particularly sensitive to green, and I found the reticle easy to see across different lighting conditions.

My preferred setting is the circle-dot. The outer circle makes finding the reticle during the draw very quick, while the center dot provides a precise aiming point. It also makes tracking the sight during recoil and getting back on target for follow-up shots easier.

With 9 brightness settings plus 2 NV modes, there's plenty of adjustment for different environments.

Build Quality

The 7075-T6 aluminum housing feels solid and durable while remaining compact and lightweight.

The thicker protective shell and raised borders around the buttons are good design choices, helping protect the controls and reduce accidental button presses.

Windage and elevation adjustments are also positive and tactile, making zeroing straightforward.

Enclosed Design

The fully enclosed emitter is one of the GM68's strongest features, especially for an EDC optic.

The enclosed design helps keep water, dirt, and debris away from the emitter.

Practical Features

The side-loading battery allows battery replacement without removing the optic and disturbing the zero.

The motion sensor is another useful feature for everyday carry, automatically waking the optic when movement is detected.

Its compact size and RMSc footprint also make it well suited for concealed-carry setups where a smaller enclosed optic is preferred.

Final Verdict

After 200 rounds of .45 ACP, the Frenzy FA 17x20 GMR Green Dot Sight EDC (SCRD-GM68) remained reliable and held zero throughout the test.

The bright green multi-reticle, fast circle-dot acquisition, compact enclosed construction, tactile adjustments, motion activation, and side-loading battery make it a strong option for an EDC or concealed-carry setup.
