This is a review of Continental x6 2-12x44 RAR MPVO Rifle Scope (SCFF-69) from the-answer-is-42.
At this point no one should be a stranger to the Vector Continental x6 2-12x44 RAR MPVO Rifle Scope (SCFF-69) scope. It has been one of the most praised MPVO options in the sub-$1000 space. After waiting to get a 2-12 in my hands for over a year in the Vector Optics thread I was finally able to get model Continental x6 2-12x44 RAR MPVO Rifle Scope (SCFF-69) for my SPR build.
The scope as many have said is extremely sold and feels very good in the hands. The specs are all very good which include a 34mm main tube, illumination, fully coated German glass, front focal plane, and locking turrets to round it out. The rest of the specs are in line with many other offerings in this space such as the 44mm objective lens, IP67 waterproofing, and 1000g of shock proofing.

A 2-12 optic IMO is perfect for the 0-600yd range of the 5.56 AR platform and with this dual-use reticle is a great DMR/SPR option that allows for close-up and far-away shooting.
Turrets
The turrets on the Continental x6 2-12x44 RAR MPVO Rifle Scope (SCFF-69) feel fantastic. They are very tight and each click is quite crisp and audible. Getting behind the scope there is no issue with them and finding your dialing with the turrets. One cool feature is the revolution indicator mark which is a pop-up piece that get larger as you dial in more elevation with the top turret and is a nice easy reference point when looking up to see where you are in the dial. The parallax knob is where both the brightness adjustment and parallax are both located with a side-mounted battery compartment.
Illumination
The illumination is good but not daylight bright as one would expect from a scope like this that isn’t a ‘fiber dot’ model. Vector does offer that feature in its 1-6 and 1-8 models for those who want a very bright center-only dot like the Primary Arms NOVA series. I personally prefer illumination on my SPR and DMR builds so that I can make faster follow-up shots on lower magnifications. Glass
The glass on the Continental line from Vector Optics is IMO excellent for the price point as C_DOES has said in his videos. In the above photos at the range, I was testing a new 77g load up with 22.5g of TAC and shot this quick 5 round group which was extremely tight with the Continental x6 2-12x44 RAR MPVO Rifle Scope (SCFF-69). I had a brief stint with a Continental 1-6x24i Fiber Rifle Scope Tactical LPVO (SCOC-44) last year on my DMR setup and it was amazing how such good glass was put into a budget line of scope.
The MPVO is the new hotness in the DMR/SPR world so I needed to try out something in this 2-12 range after using so many 1-4 over the years and the Continental 1-6x24i Fiber Rifle Scope Tactical LPVO (SCOC-44) I also just mentioned which provided not enough magnification at distance in my opinion if you’re going out past 300 yards for good target ID.
This 2-12 MPVO model features an upgraded version of their Schott HD German glass with VePRO multi-coating. At 2x the eye box is very forgiving and is easy to get behind while 10x is a little tighter at full magnification and 12x even more so, but I would still rate the eye box as very nice at the full 2-12 range.
For an SPR or DMR build the 2-12 magnification range is perfect in intermediate calibers like the .223/5.56. 12x mag will get you easily out to 500yds and even 800yds if you need to with precision at distance in n SPR role. If you’re shooting for groups on the bench 12x might be a little low but is still doable and you’re able to see the .224 caliber projectiles on paper.
For comparison, I’ve included photos through both the Continental x6 2-12x44 RAR MPVO Rifle Scope (SCFF-69) and a Vortex Venom 3-15 I own as well. To me the Continental has some edge blur but it a much clearer scope with more contrast and clarity than the Vortex Venom series.
Reticle
The Continental x6 2-12x44 RAR MPVO Rifle Scope (SCFF-69) features the VET-RAR2 reticle (shown above in photos through the scope) that many companies are now utilizing such as Swampfox with their new 1-8 Gen II models. The VET-RAR2 has an ‘Eotech-style’ circle with center dot at 2-6x to allow for very fast shots on the move and then above 6x is a classic Christmas-tree-style reticle for precision distance shooting. I love this reticle type for my SPR builds as it’s almost like having two scopes in one.
The reticle substentions on the VET-RAR2 are not too fat and not too thin and I like the addition of the ranging meter in the reticle as well. I’m not sure I would have put it so centered, but its not in a spot that obscures anything with your field of view.
Conclusions
After my extended use of several hundred rounds with the Continental x6 2-12x44 RAR MPVO Rifle Scope (SCFF-69) I agree with other reviewers from the last few years who have gotten the Continental x6 2-12x44 RAR MPVO Rifle Scope (SCFF-69) in hand that it’s an excellent scope for the money and is extremely solid and feature-rich for the price. There’s not much more you can ask for from a scope in this range and as of now it’s going to replace the Vortex Venom 3-15 that’s on my 18” SPR setup for competition and long-range shooting out to 500yds with a small frame AR. I posted a while ago about a Gen II Continental scope from vector that was shown at SHOT and I can only hope it improves on the Gen I which is a tall order.
