Here is the Paragon 7x25 GenIII Digital Ballistic Laser Rangefinder review from Borbás Gábor.
I'm coming with a new, special test for me. Now exceptionally not binoculars, but the Vector Optics Paragon 7X25 Gen III. I tested the type laser rangefinder.
The sophisticated packaging includes the following:
- distance meter
- belt holster
- instructions
- wrist strap
- wipe
It weighs 184 grams and measures 118X76X42 mm. Seven times magnification, the size of the front lens is 25 mm, the size of the rear lens is 14 mm. Its measurement range is 5-2400 yards (4.5-2195 m). Its optical coating is multi-layered, the angle range of the measurement is from -70 degrees to +70 degrees.
It can be used in three modes: golf, hunting, other. It has a Bluetooth function, so it communicates with the phone through the appropriate application. The brightness of the display can be adjusted in 5 levels, which turns off after 10 seconds if it is not in use. The coating of its housing is plastic and rubber, which ensures a comfortable and non-slip grip. Battery type CR2-3V, but it is not included. Its water resistance is IPX4. It is resistant to rain and splashing water. The device is ultra compact. Its erasers are handy and easy to use. Thanks to the multi-layer OLED display, it provides a crystal clear image, and the result can be read within 1 second of the measurement. Thanks to the phone application (AB Synapse SORD) - which can be downloaded for free - we can access a lot of information. Among other things, it also calculates the height and lateral support after setting the appropriate values.
I tested it up to 42 meters and checked its accuracy with a tape measure. At 20 meters, in the case of smaller targets (approx. 10X10 cm), I experienced an inaccuracy of between 30 and 50 cm compared to the measuring tape, but this can be corrected by repeated measurements. In the case of larger targets (approx. 50X50 cm) or buildings, it is precisely measured.
The accuracy of the measurement also depends on the light reflectance of the surface. For darker objects, the measurement may be inaccurate, in which case it is worth repeating the measurement several times.
Its water resistance corresponds to the factory data, it worked perfectly even after the splash water test.
Positives:
- light and handy
- easy to handle
- free application
- resistant to splashing water
- protective case and wrist strap included
- demanding elaboration
Negatives:
- battery not included
- for smaller objects, the measurement is inaccurate, which can be corrected by multiple measurements
Overall, I think it's a great tool. It can also be used at dusk and in poor visibility conditions. Recommended for hunters, precision shooters, and also excellent for long-range shooting. The use of a rangefinder is not allowed in Hunter Field Target competitions, but it is a great help for distance estimation during practice.
