Continental x6 6-36X56 FFP PRS Rifle Scope (SCFF-70) Review

2025-06-19

This is a review of Continental x6 6-36X56 FFP PRS Rifle Scope (SCFF-70) from Jani Nordman.

Vector Optics' premium offering for the PRS market, what is PRS, I hear you asking. Originally called Precision Rifle Series, now more commonly referenced as Precision Rifle Shooting, it’s a medium to long-range shooting sport where there are different obstacles that you have to shoot through, and distances are usually ranging from 100m to 800m. I’ll pop some links at the end for the PRS. If you want to know more, having been introduced now in my shooting club to this sport, I can highly recommend that you at least introduce yourself to the sport, if competition rifle shooting is your jam.

Glass

Typical fashion for the continental series, the German Schott HT Glass offers, for the price, excellent clarity. In the pictures, you can see various magnification levels and how well you can read the sign at 300m. The glass is very usable and offers decent colour correction; there is a slight colour shift at high magnification, which you can see in the photos. The light transmission for the scope is above 90%, which is excellent! Eye relief is surprisingly good, taking into consideration this is 36x on the maximum.

Housing

34mm tube size made from 6061-T6 aluminium that offers a IP67 waterproof, the housing I found to be typical for the continental series very rigid, no wobble, no creaking so just a solid scope, and as expected from this level, the adjustment wheels and all other controls are very crips and accurate. More details on them on the next segment. Vector offers a vast variety of accessories and mounts for the 34mm range, so you’ll be able to find the mount or accessories that fit your preference. You can have a look at the Vector Optics website for more details on these accessories.

Features

This scope is packed with useful features, and I encourage all to have a close look at the full sales page for a more detailed explanation of all the features I highlight here.

34mm tube diameter gives you more adjustment range, up to a maximum adjustment range of 31 MIL. Contrary to the usual false notion that 34mm gives you more light passthrough, the size of the scope body has nothing to do with how much light comes to your eye; it's just that for 34mm, you can fit a bigger adjustment mechanism.

The scope is FFP (first focal plane) this means the scope reticule is fixed and changes size while you enhance the magnification, this makes it a lot easier to use the markings on the reticule as the MIL marking are always correct (SFP, second focal plane usually the marking are only correct only on the full magnification level) so you never have to worry if you need to use the markings, as they are always correct. Have a look at more of the reticule explained on the links below at the vector optics site.

You get zero stop on the elevation turret; this feature is the one that if once you use it, you can’t have a scope without it anymore. In stress situations (competition etc) it’s much easier to just turn the knob until it stops and you know immediately that now your rifle is zeroed to the distance you’ve set and you’re good to go for any adjustments. The turrets are also locked when not raised, meaning you don’t accidentally bump them, or they don’t get moved during transport.

The scope illumination wheel has the OFF position between all 11 illumination settings, a small thing that makes a huge difference.

Final thoughts

Sometimes I get asked if it's better than “this” or “that” 2500€, 3500€ scope, and I always have to say, No. But for the +-1000€ scope offerings, I can say this is the best I’ve tested. So, you won’t get a 3000€+ scope for the money, but you get one of the best of the 1000€+ scopes.

36x magnification is quite excessive; the most commonly used magnification in PRS matches is 5- 25x, so I’m not sure if you’ll gain a competitive advantage by opting for a higher magnification.
