Product Review
2026-06-17This is a review of Veyron GenII 3-12x44 HD CTR FFP Rifle Scope (SCFF-72) & Veyron GenII 4-16x44 HD DCR FFP Rifle Scope (SCFF-78) from Jani Nordman.
I’ve been saying now for a while that “Good scopes are getting cheap, and cheap scopes are getting good.” This is an example of that: for the money you pay, you can’t argue you’re not getting good value for money. Is it the best scope ever made? Well, obviously not. But can you mount it on your platform of choice and be happy about your purchase? Yes, you can.
This will be a joint review for the two different models of the same Gen II family. The Veyron GenII 3-12x44 HD CTR FFP Rifle Scope (SCFF-72) and the Veyron GenII 4-16x44 HD DCR FFP Rifle Scope (SCFF-78). I’ve labelled the pictures so you can better distinguish between the two, as they look identical on the outside but have some differences in the reticle and zoom levels.
Glass
This is where the cheap Vector scopes have always been okay but nowadays are starting to excel; the Veyron GenII now has an HD Glass with fully multi-coating, meaning at least the glass clarity won’t be the reason not to spend your hard-earned cash. But as expected at this price range, it has quite the downsides, with distortions on the glass, but as always, you’ll be the judge from the pictures! And if you have the opportunity to have hands-on experience in a store to see in person, you can see it’s an acceptable level for the price.

Features
What makes the Veyron special from other scopes on this price level? The answer is the compact design, which is much shorter than similar magnification scopes, meaning if you need a smaller overall package, being only 251mm for the 4-16 version and 242mm makes these some of the shortest scopes in this market area. In the box, you get enough for you to set it up, you get high weaver (Picatinny) scope rings, flip-up caps, a side wheel for easier parallax setting, see the full list of accessories in the box from the links below.

Scope body
Relevant only for the Veyron GenII 3-12x44 HD CTR FFP Rifle Scope (SCFF-72). As this scope is made from 6063-T6, this might be the one area where you start to see of why the price can be lower, as the 6063-t6 doesn’t have as big tensile strength as the 6061-t6 usually used in scope bodies, so you might see dings where you usually wouldn’t, maybe not mount this to the rifle that you’re planning to take to some use cases where the scope gets regularly banged up. NOTE: The Veyron GenII 4-16x44 HD DCR FFP Rifle Scope (SCFF-78) is made from 6061-T6 aluminum.
You get the usual lockable turrets, so no accidental adjustments happen. Zero setting for the elevation, side focus wheel, with a bigger add-on wheel in the box, so adjustments are made easier.

You get 6 illumination settings, not the brightest, but in dusk or dawn, you should be able to see the reticle easily. Just be aware that in direct sunlight or even slight overcast, the illumination is not visible at all. There is also a preinstalled throw lever that you can easily remove with one screw if you prefer a different throw lever. What I’ve noticed with multiple Vector scopes is that the adjustment wheels are very stiff; these two models even hurt trying to zoom in and out fast. This is something that should be fixed for all models. If you use more premium scopes, it requires almost no force to use the zoom ring, and the edges are not sharp, but just enough to give you a good grip.
Glass
As mentioned previously, the glass is an upgrade from the GenI; it’s not, of course, on the level of the top-of-the-market scopes, and there are some distortions on the side, but taking the price into consideration, it’s excellent; you can see from the photos and videos what the glass looks like. I’ve tested both even in low light, and the image was usable, and I had no issues seeing clearly what I was hitting.

Reticle
You get options of what type of reticle best suits your needs; that is mainly the reason this is a two-part review, to highlight the two different types of reticles, both of which are FFP (first focal plane), meaning the reticle moves with the level of zoom.
The Veyron GenII 3-12x44 HD CTR FFP Rifle Scope (SCFF-72) has a MIL Etched Glass Reticle with a 0.08 MIL Illuminated Floating Dot, Christmas Tree Pattern (CTR)
The Veyron GenII 4-16x44 HD DCR FFP Rifle Scope (SCFF-78) has a MIL Etched Glass Reticle with a 0.08MIL Illuminated Floating Dot, Dualscale Crosshair (DCR)
Final words
If you’re on the market for a compact scope or need to upgrade on a budget, the GenII from Veyron could have a solution for you. There are multiple zoom ranges to choose from. Some new models are being released soon. Please follow the link below to read more about the new models being offered and the ones coming soon!
Just remember you won’t get the best for any aspect, but just a usable scope! If you have a little bit more in the budget, you should have a look at the Vector Optics Continental or Tauron lineup.
