Here is the review of Paragon 10x42 Rangefinder Binocular from Dumisani Shabangu.
I tested the binos recently as an addition to my match set up. Rangefinder binocular are great for PRS style matches as they allow you to confirm given distances, spotting and mentally practicing complicated shooting sequences.
Mounting
a. The Paragon 10x42 Rangefinder Binocular were easy to mount onto my tripod. I used a generic aluminium telescope mount with a quick release knob. It was easy to release and attach the binoculars.
Focus and eye relief
a. I followed the guide provided to determine the perfect eye relief. It was easy and took less than five minutes. On the field, to focus, I used the centre knob with ease. The left and right dioptres worked perfectly.
Range finding
a. I tested the binoculars up to 750m, the accuracy was excellent. Objects at that distance were still clear.
Spotting impacts
a. I tested spotting impacts like PR22 matches, meaning up to 300m shooting .22 Long rifle. The performance was excellent.
General
a. The unit is an essential addition to a PR22 or NRL22 match gear setup. It will allow a shooter to be familiarized with the course layout, sequences and accurate ranges. The accurate ranges are the most important, because incorrect DOPE causes poor performance.
I was impressed by the overall build quality. The texture on the binoculars has enough grip for easy manipulation, you can quickly adjust to obtain one sight picture. The weight of the binoculars is an added bonus, it allows the unit to be stable on a tripod for extended periods of time. The unit is in a lovely black colour, with crisp glass quality. I would recommend this unit to anyone shooting PRS style matches.
